Annual Tree Lighting

Benham’s Grove to host 26 th annual tree lighting and Centerville’s 50th anniversary as a City

Ring in the holidays December 2 the official date Centerville transitioned from a village to a city. Downtown Centerville welcomes the season with the Hometown Holiday Walk, 1 – 5 p.m. Sponsored by the Heart of Centerville merchants and Centerville-Washington History, participants have the opportunity to win a gift basket valued at more than $500. Step back in time with visits to the Historical Society’s Asahel Wright House—featuring Centerville circa 1968 and Walton House Museum. Other events include children’s activities, horse and carriage rides, visit with Santa, shopping with special discounts.

Centerville’s Tree Lighting Ceremony follows at 5 p.m., at Benham’s Grove, 166 N. Main Street. Enjoy the sounds of the season with musical entertainment from Centerville Community Band, holiday songs by the Cline Elementary School Chorus and dance selections from “Nutcracker” by the Miami Valley Dance Company. Look for a special appearance by Santa Claus, too. Centerville Mayor Brooks Compton will light the tree following Santa’s arrival.

Both of these community events are free. For more information, call the City of Centerville, (937) 433-7151.
