Americana Festival
The Americana Fourth of July Festival is largest festival held in the City of Centerville. Celebrating Independence Day, the annual Americana Festival attracts over 75,000 visitors.
The Americana Festival is led by a Board of Directors and is organized by volunteers of the community - residents, business owners, community groups and city volunteers. The Festival includes a 5K run, student scholarships, auto show, street fair, parade, and to top it off the fireworks. Local community organizations also sponsor additional activities. Citywide Garage Sale
The Centerville Citywide Garage Sale is typically held the last week in April. Dates for the 2025 Citywide Garage Sale will be announced in early 2025.
Centerville residents who register their sale prior to the registration deadline can receive one complimentary yard sign, which will be available for pickup at the Centerville ahead of the Citywide Garage Sale.
The City will also advertise the sale in the newspaper, on social media and on the City website.
The City prepares a list of all registered addresses and a brief list of items for sale
Operation: Clean Sweep
Over the two weeks following the Citywide Garage Sale, the City offers Operation: Clean Sweep, a bulk-item pickup offered once a year at no cost for Centerville waste collection customers.
2025 dates will be announced prior to April 2025.
The Public Works Department spread neighborhood pick-ups across two weeks, giving crews ample time to carry dozens of loads to the Montgomery County Solid Waste Transfer Station.
Prohibited Items:
- Car batteries
- Tires
- Automotive parts
- Wood with nails (nails must be bent over)
- Paint cans unless open and dried
- Large root balls or tree stumps
- Concrete or posts with concrete on them
- Bricks, pavers, concrete blocks
- Hazardous materials (paints, oils, fuels, fertilizers, etc.)
- Unwrapped mattress or box spring
- Carpet rolls longer than four feet
- Dirt
- Firewood
- Unbundled or large unmanageable piles of brush (Brush must be bundled and bound in small manageable piles. No brush should be larger than 10 inches in diameter or longer than 4 feet.)
All items must be lined across the front of the property not in the street for collection. Any brush must be bundled and bound in small manageable piles. Please mark "please take" on any container you would like to be disposed. Please leave the standard three-foot clearance around your normal city-provided waste and recycling container.

Arbor Day Ceremony
The City of Centerville and Centerville-Washington Park District host an annual Arbor Day Ceremony in April at a park located in the City of Centerville. The ceremony features remarks from elected officials and special guests.
The public is invited to participate in the planting of trees during the ceremony.
The City will announce a date for the 2025 ceremony in early 2025.
The City of Centerville has been a member of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program for more than 35 years and is committed to growing and maintaining a thriving urban canopy.
Mystery Night Out
The Centerville Police Department hosts its annual Mystery Night Out citywide clue search in early August each year at Stubbs Park. The outreach event features children's games, food, and other activities ahead of the clue search.
A date for the 2025 Mystery Night Out will be announced in early 2025.
Centerville Merchant Market
Come enjoy Centerville's curated upscale market and dining experience at Stubbs Park. The annual event is a collaborative effort between the City of Centerville and The Heart of Centerville Washington Township. More than 10,000 people attend the event each year.
Shop with over 100 vendors, and enjoy live music, food trucks, drinks and family-friendly activities while you shop.
Memorial Day Ceremony
In commemoration of Memorial Day, the City of Centerville honors those who died in service to our country with a ceremony saluting the men and women who have helped protect and preserve our freedom.
The program happens at 9:00 a.m. on Memorial Day annually at the Veterans Memorial Plaza at Stubbs Park, 255 W. Spring Valley Road.
The program includes color guard presentations from Centerville VFW Post 9550, Centerville Police Department and Washington Township Fire Department Honor Guards and remarks from Centerville's Mayor.
Veterans Day Ceremony
The City of Centerville is honors the men and women who have helped protect and preserve our freedom with a special Veterans Day ceremony annually
The program happens on November 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Plaza at Stubbs Park, 255 W. Spring Valley Road.
The City honors Centerville veterans throughout the ceremony, which also features color guard presentations from Centerville VFW Post 9550, Centerville Police Department and Washington Township Fire Department Honor Guards and remarks from Centerville's Mayor.
Cornerstone Park Pop-up Party
The City of Centerville and the Centerville Arts Commission host a kids-focused event at Cornerstone Park during summer that transports kids to a world of capes, crowns and creativity!
Featuring crafts, character visits, food and more, this event is one the entire family can enjoy.
The 2025 Cornerstone Park Pop-up Party will be announced in early 2025.
Fall Fest
Fall into the fun at the Centerville Fall Fest at Stubbs Park. This delightful autumn event promises a bountiful day of activities for the whole family to enjoy.
The Centerville Fall Fest is a collaborative effort between the City of Centerville, Centerville Arts Commission, The Heart of Centerville and Washington Township and St. Leonard.
Event activities include free pumpkins for kids (while supplies last), kids activities, vendors, food trucks, live music and craft beer.
A date for the 2025 Fall Fest will be announced in early 2025.
Uptown Holiday Weekend
When the holiday season arrives Centerville hosts the Uptown Holiday Weekend, a festive celebration filled with activities for all ages the weekend prior to Thanksgiving.
Join the City for a magical weekend that will bring the community together in the heart of Centerville and Washington Township.
Kick off the weekend with the enchanting Woodland Lights at Washington Township’s Countryside Park. Stroll through the beautifully-lit half-mile paved path and enjoy the holiday spirit with family and friends. Tickets for Woodland Lights can be purchased at washingtontwp.org or the gate.
The weekend continues with the Uptown Holiday Concert at Town Hall Theatre, 27 N. Main Street. Tickets are required for the concert.
Sunday is packed with family-friendly activities during the Uptown Holiday Walk. Enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides, visits with Santa, festive characters and a variety of kids' activities. Uptown businesses will offer special promotions, and there will be approximately 20 pop-up Heart of Centerville and Washington Township vendors to explore.
The highlight of the weekend is the Mayor's Tree Lighting on Sunday at Benham's Grove. The ceremony features performances from performing arts groups from around the City and more as the City officially kicks off the holiday season.
Ghost Walk on Main
Centerville-Washington History and The Friends of Washington-Centerville Public Library, in partnership with the City of Centerville and the Heart of Centerville and Washington Township, invite groups on a haunted history walk through Uptowntown Centerville each fall.
Tour groups are led by a storyteller guide. Learn and be entertained by local history, hear spooky stories and enjoy refreshments and drinks compliments of Heart of Centerville businesses. Participants must be age 21 or older. For more information, please click here.
