Home MenuBuilding Inspection
The Centerville Building Department is certified by the Ohio Board of Building Standards to regulate the construction of both commercial and residential structures including electrical, fuel gas piping, HVAC and plumbing systems.
The City employs building, electrical and plumbing inspectors and contracts with a master plans examiner for review of all commercial & multi-family structures.
Approval Required
If you are planning to make a change to your property, including but not limited to developing a vacant lot, adding a room, deck or garage, or needing electrical, heating, air conditioning or plumbing installations or replacements, the City of Centerville is eager to help. If you're not sure whether an approval is required for the changes you plan to make, call us at 937-428-4786. This simple inquiry prevents what could be costly and time-consuming mistakes.
Construction Inspections and Approvals
Requests for inspections during construction can be called in the day before or between 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. the same day at 937-428-4786.
To help ensure construction can start on schedule, applications and plans for residential construction should be submitted at least 2 weeks before the intended start date (3 weeks for commercial and multi-family).
Online Application Portal
Applicants may now apply and pay online for many of the City’s permits. The online user guide has several resources for how to access the site and information about the permitting process. An applicant needs to create an account on the website and can track the status through the application process. The application is not considered complete until all application materials are submitted.
Please contact the City of Centerville Building Department at (937) 428-4786 with any questions.
