Definitions
Board: Group of people, appointed by City Council, having supervisory, or investigative powers.
Commission: Group of people appointed and directed by City Council to carry out a specific function. A commission within a city government, once established by City Council through an ordinance, is of a permanent nature and has official jurisdiction.
Committee: An organization, whose members are appointed by City Council, to which City Council has delegated or committed the promotion of a common objective
Task Force: Group of people, appointed by the Mayor, in concert with City Council, to address a limited issue and report its findings back to the council members. A task force is not intended to be of a permanent nature.
How to Volunteer
You must be a Centerville resident to apply for an appointment to a City board or commission. Interested residents should fill out the appropriate application packet and submit to Teri Davis, Clerk of Council.
