Below is a sorted list of the most common zoning permits and instructions on how to apply. This includes fence, shed, detached garage, building addition, pool, patio, driveway extension, deck, new business, signage, new home and zoning verification applications. Fence

For the construction of a new fence, or the replacement of an existing fence.

Shed or Accessory Structure (200 Square Feet or Less)

This application is for the construction of an accessory structure 200 square feet or less on a residential property. This includes sheds, decks, detached garages, pools, gazebos, pergolas, and other similar structures.

Shed or Detached Garage (Over 200 Square Feet)

For the construction of an accessory structure over 200 square feet on a residential property. This includes sheds, detached garages, pergolas, and other similar structures. Any structure over 200 square feet will also require a building permit.

Building Addition

For the construction of a residential building addition. This includes bedroom additions, patio enclosures, and patio covers Please contact the building department to confirm what building permits will be required.

Pool (Inground or Above Ground)

For the construction of an in ground or above ground pool. Any fence, concrete, or decking can also be included within this zoning application. Any new electric work associated with the pool installation will require an electric permit.

Patios and Driveway Extensions

For the construction of patios or driveway extensions. Any new patio or driveway extension adding over 250 square feet of impervious surface requires a zoning permit.

Deck

For the construction of a deck on a residential property. Any deck greater than 200 square feet, attached to the house, or over 30 inches above grade will also require a building permit.

New Business or Business Expansion

For any new or expanding business within the City of Centerville. This zoning application ensures the business is an eligible land use and that all property requirements are met. All new and expanding businesses also require a Certificate of Occupancy through the Building Department.

Permanent Signage

For the installation or replacement of any permanent wall or ground signs. This includes the reface of existing signs. Please contact the Building Department to determine if a building or electric permit is required.

Temporary Signage

For the placement of any temporary commercial wall or ground signage on a property. The length of time a sign can be placed is varied so please contact the Development Department to confirm.

New Single Family Residential

For the construction of a new single family residential home. Please contact the Building Department to confirm what building permits will be required.

To request a letter to verify zoning information on a property.

Zoning Review of Planning Commission/Board of Architectural Review Plan Approval

Zoning application for review of a plan that has been approved by Planning Commission or the Board of Architectural Review.
