Open House

In 2017, City Council approved a concept plan for Centerville Place that envisioned redevelopment of the shopping center at State Route 48 between Sheehan and Spring Valley Roads – including the old Kroger store.  During its public meeting this week, City Council saw a plan for Centerville Place from developer Dillin LLC involving more than $130 million in redevelopment.

As we begin the public process for approval, we want to share information with our community. It is important to City Council and City Staff that the public has several opportunities to see those concept plans themselves, hear the process ahead, ask questions and share their feedback.

Demolition of the old Kroger store will likely move ahead in the coming weeks. Please note that process is very different from development of the site, which requires planning, zoning and building approval, meetings and public hearings.

We have organized a public Open House for Thursday, August 29 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Centerville Police Department.

City staff members and Dillin LLC will be represented as we address four major components of the project:

  • Business mix
  • Design and architecture
  • Infrastructure and engineering
  • Financial information

We will invite participation through newspaper, tv and radio media as well as on social media and the City’s web site, but we would appreciate your help in spreading the word to anyone who may be interested.

If you are not able to make the meeting, this will not be the only time to offer public comment. The development plan will also move through Planning Commission and City Council over the next several months. As always, those meetings are public and notices will be posted on the City website.
